By John Dallas Greene

The hCG diet is predicated upon the body's ability to tolerate a low calorie diet, while drawing upon stored nutrients form adipose fat tissues. This is accomplished specifically with the intervention of the human chorionic gonadotropin hormone, otherwise known as hCG . At the same time, hCG acts within the body chemistry to help alleviate the side effects low caloric intake, such as headache, general weakness, malaise, irritability, dizziness, and hunger pains.

The most important step after deciding to undertake the hCG diet is to see a doctor, either your primary care physician or a doctor that specializes in dealing with dieting patients. The physician will examine you to determine you baseline health, and your body chemistry. He or she will also evaluate any pre existing conditions and the meds that you are taking to treat those conditions. This is an important part of the process because weight loss can affect, usually improve medical conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, etc. Pregnant women are not allowed to take hCG injections

The original protocol established by Dr. A.T.W. Simeons, calls for an intake of only 500 calories a day. The average man or woman needs somewhere between 1500 to 2000 calories a day. This does not mean that the hCG diet is a starvation diet. The idea is to give your body enough energy to convince it to draw nutrition from stored fat cells. The body can draw as much as it needs from this source, absorbing as much as 2000 calories daily. Thereby, keeping the body from stripping the muscles, and bones of needed vitamins and minerals.

The daily intake of 500 calories goes right to work supplying energy to muscles and bones; while your body draws the bulk of its calories from stored fat cells, and the impending result is rapid and significant weight loss. The reports are, average weight loss of 1 to 3 pounds daily, depending upon the patient's condition, activity level, and how much weight they have to lose.

hCG injections are only available by a doctor's prescription, and this is the only legal way to obtain hCG injections in the United States. The Food and Drug Administration has denied authorization for hCG to be supplied in any other instance than prescription.

Manufacturer claims of HCG drops, tablets, or creams are false. All of the products have been classified as homeopathic, and if one were to scrutinize the labels, you can find not even traces of hCG in these products. So be sure to question the products origination and the exact amount of hCG they contain.

The physician will prescribe the injections, however the patient will deliver the daily dose in the same way that diabetics give themselves insulin. In fact, the needle is the same short, thin needle, which is administered just below the top layer of skin, and is relatively painless. The injections are given in the morning, once a day for twenty-three days. In the case of sever obesity; there can be a 6-week break then another series of injections for continued weight loss.

It is normal for patients to experience mild hunger for the first few days, until the body starts drawing nutrients from the stored fat cells. However, once the body starts drawing nutrients into the bloodstream, it is commonly reported among the patients that they feel as if they have to stuff themselves, even to reach their 500-calorie limit.

The completion of the hCG diet, results in a rapid and sizable loss of weight. Patients who have gone through the experience have recognized it as a time period during which they developed new attitudes about food and their overall health. A medically supervised hCG diet is an excellent opportunity for you to change your health and your outlook.
