By Heejin Kim

In order for the body to function effectively during any physical activity such as exercise, the muscles must be stretched and extended. Stretching is a variety of exercise where the muscles are utilized to help condition a person's body to be fit for physical activities. Although some do not agree that stretching has any significance to improving health, other specialists deem that the advantages of stretching can offer advancement in a weight loss development.

Stretching helps to improve one's weight loss journey by increasing circulation, burn calories, build muscles, and increase flexibility. With these positive contributions to weight loss, it is highly recommended to include more stretching exercises into a fitness routine.

Enhanced Blood Circulation

A healthy blood distribution is developed during a stretching activity. The pumping action of the muscles triggers the blood to pass through the veins and to the heart; raising amount of oxygen being distributed to the muscles. This process helps enhance a person's ability to accomplish any physical activities such as exercise.

Calorie Burning

Since stretching is a form of physical exercises, this means that calories are burned during any stretching activity, mild or intense. The calories burned may not be as much compared to other strenuous activities, but small quantities can still make a difference in a person's health in the long run.

Toned Muscles

Some strenuous stretching, such as the ones performed in yoga, help build muscles in the legs and arms as well as the core region. Strengthening the muscles in the body can greatly increase a person's metabolism and enhance the body's ability to burn calories more efficiently.

Increased Flexibility

Improving the body's ability to be flexible can improve a person's capability to perform and utilize their body effortlessly in many physical activities. Constant stretching can gradually extend the muscles to be used efficiently.

Gradually integrating mild and strenuous stretching exercises in a regular workout regimen, along with a proper diet and other demanding exercises, can increasingly improve a person's ability to lose weight and enhance their overall health and well-being.
